This was the last cycle cross race of the season
& I was tied for 1st place with 2 other kids from
Bicycle trip team. On Saturday my dad gave me
a new SJBC jersey. I was ready to go. I woke up
Sunday morning and my stomach didn't feel all
that great. Then I puked guts outs and decided
to still go, because I had 2 freinds going. Joseph
and Cooper. The drive over 152 wasn't fun, but
my dad tried to go as slow as possible. When we
got there, I felt a little better seeing my friends.
It was their first time being in a bike race.
At the beginning of the race I was able to stay
with the 2 kids from Bicycle trip for about 1
1/2. Then my stomach started acting up, and I
thought I was going to throw up on the bike, so
I had to slow down and watch the 2 kids ride away.
Then I hoped that no one else would pass me. I
held onto 3rd place and went back to the car to
lay down.
My friends had a good time getting muddy and my
dad was happy because I ddin't beat him. I had
to wait for the results to be finalized and then
we did a podium ceremony. I got 3rd place overall
for the Santa Cruz County seriers. They gave me
a set of arm warmers. Next year I hope to have
a real cycle cross bike. Next race is the 1st
Junior point series race - Cherry Pie.
