This is the last weekend (Sat and Sun)of this
series so I knew this would be a big weekend.
Arrived to Coyote Point to the freezing wind that
blew right through you. Did 3 warm up laps and
got a good feeling for the course. The 1st half
was technical but not real muddy only a couple
places with a climb to the tallest set of barriers
I have seen at the top. The 2nd half was a series
of short flat sections broken up with tight corners
and a set of barriers. Going in to the race I
was feeling a little under the weather but decent
enough to race. My goal is to move in to the top
6 for the overall sereis so I can get some shwag.
Going into this race I am 9th overall.
The 1st 2 laps I was having a hard time breathing
my head was stopped up so that put a hinder on
my pace. After that I felt better and made a few
passes but I had no idea where I was in the field
everyone I saw around me was a 35+ guy and every
so often I would pass a C racer. With 1 lap to
go I could see I was by myself and I figured either
I am doing great or I suck. I kept getting caught
behind the masters guys that were picking some
horrible lines which in turn made me pick some
horrible lines. So I held my ground and finished
strong but freezing.
After the race I did a little cool down and chatted
with the regualr sand baggers as we discussed
who thought they finished where. I changed and
put every piece of clothing I had in my car on.
And the results proved that I was behind all the
other sandbaggers like I figured. Great race and
tomorrow I believe we race the same course backwards
so that should be interesting.
Next race: Sun (same time same place)
New Santa Cruz series added to the season 01/15,
